AI phone screening

First-round calls, in the candidate's language

HrThroo's AI calls the candidates you approve, from your own phone number, and asks your screening questions in English, Hindi or another Indian language. You get the recording, the transcript and the answers.

How a phone screen runs

Speech recognition and voice come from Sarvam AI, running inside LiveKit's real-time calling. The rules below are built in, not optional.

  1. 01

    Only candidates who agreed

A candidate is called only after agreeing to it, on the apply page or through a consent link. Without a recorded yes, there is no call.

  2. 02

From your number, in working hours

Calls go out from your own phone number, so candidates see a number they can call back, and only between 10:00 and 19:00 IST.

  3. 03

The AI says what it is

Every call opens with the AI saying it is an AI calling for your team and that the call is recorded. If the candidate says “stop”, the call ends and they aren't called again.

  4. 04

Answers come back to the queue

The answers to your questions come back next to the transcript and the recording, so the recruiter can read the call instead of listening to all of it.

How call minutes are counted

A connected call or interview of up to 60 seconds counts as 1 minute; after that, each started minute counts as a whole minute. Calls that don't connect are free.

Your phone provider's charges

Calls go out through your own phone number, so call charges from your telephony provider are billed by that provider to you. They aren't part of your HrThroo plan.

What it never does

These are product rules, not settings.

  • Call anyone who hasn't agreed, or call outside 10:00 to 19:00 IST.
  • Pretend to be a person, or record without saying so.
  • Call again after a candidate says “stop”.
  • Decide who moves forward. The recruiter reads the answers and decides.
